Mecca Train Ticket Prices & Services Announced for its First Hajj Season

 cid:image002.jpg@01CB7A78.9B689E20

01 November 2010

It was announced yesterday that Muslims wishing to use Mecca's first metro when they converge on the holy city next month for their annual pilgrimage will have to pay SR250 for a ticket that will serve them for seven days.

Three different types of tickets will cover all holy sites in Mecca and will allow the pilgrims to take the train into the city to perform their rites before returning to their residence inside or outside the city, Ajel online newspaper said, quoting Habib Zain Alabidin, Undersecretary at the Saudi Ministry of Municipal affairs.

"The ticket's price is set at SR250 (US$ 67) that will cover a full trip into and out of Mecca for seven days…another ticket is priced at SR100 (US$ 27) for four days," he said.

Officials said last week the train has a capacity to transport 170,000 passengers in its first stage and two million when the third and final phase is completed.

Saudi Arabia has allocated nearly SR6.7 billion (US$ 1.8 billion) for the metro, which begins continuous service next month for the first time in Mecca's history. Officials expect the project to largely contribute to easing road congestions caused by the accumulation of thousands of cars near Makkah.

Habib Zain Alabidin says the railway would operate throughout the year.

The project is part of a costly programme by Saudi Arabia to tackle massive traffic congestions in and around the city and facilitate access to all sacred sites in Mecca.

The train project, initiated three years ago, followed a series of incidents that have killed thousands of pilgrims in stampedes, building collapses and other accidents during the few days of the Haj season.

More than two million Muslims from Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Co-operation Council countries and other nations descend on Mecca every year to perform the pilgrimage.

China Railway Construction Corp, part of a Saudi-French-Chinese consortium which won the contract, is carrying out the project, involving nearly 5,000 workers. The train is the Gulf's second metro system after the Dubai Metro.

Yet another Ramadaan slips away...

Thanks : Syed Abdul Basith

In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

"May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You"

Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah
As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

And yet another Ramadaan slips away...
(Adapted from an article on the internet)

Alas…..it is here…..Its the time for parting.
The countdown that marked the arrival of Ramadan, the excitement of the coming month of boundless mercy, now turns to wistfulness and grief.

All too soon, the few fleeting days of Ramadan will pass away.
The question is…..did we make an effort to gather the uncountable blessings from Allah that this month brings in?
The question is……did we do enough?

Allah blessed us with the month of Ramadan, and bestowed His favor upon us with the fasting of its day and the praying of its night.

I ask Allah that He accepts from us our fasting, our standing in prayer, our recitation of the Quraan and that He makes us from the people who are saved from Hell Fire.

Soon, as we bid farewell to this blessed month…this beloved, noble guest, it is a good time to remind ourselves …..and to take a moment to reflect upon our actions during Ramadan, our motives and perhaps even chart a course for the continuity of our good deeds. We should ask ourselves a few questions for which we need to find some honest answers.

An answer, it is said, is only as good as the question that precedes it. For it is only when we frame a query searching enough, searing enough, that we can hope to find a reply that is comprehensive and just. It is these answers that may have a chance to awaken us from our absent-mindedness, our heedlessness and help us remain steadfast and virtuous.

These questions are in their utmost simplicity:
Who did you fast for??
Why did you fast??
What is to be done after Ramadan?

Yet, the answers are only the bare truth. Why, nothing else could be clearer! I fasted for Allah alone, to worship Him, seeking the rewards from Him alone.

Yes, these answers are correct and clear. But, what about those of us who fasted the month of Ramadan as a tradition and not as an act of worship?

Do we not know of someone who got used to fasting this month because they inherited it from their parents and their societies and they do not want to go against their traditions? Do we see someone fasting because everyone around them, their family, peers and colleagues are fasting, and they want to belong?
Perhaps a part of us also does the same?

Are we among those people who abstain from all sorts of permissible food and drink during the long hours of the day, only to fall upon the food and drink at iftaar, unmindful of what is unlawful during the nights and days of the rest of the year? This is because of the feeble self-control over overwhelming desires of the nafs (soul), that is not bothered to be reined-in, except for mighty efforts during the days of Ramadan.

Have we not observed someone we know, who fasts meticulously as if fasting is a habit that has been inherited, and yet does not pray? Have not we, at some time or the other, fasted as if a bag was tied to a camels mouth to prevent it from eating until dusk, because we have not prayed nor observed the limits set by Allaah, achieving nothing out of it except hunger or thirst?

Certainly, the obligation of fasting is one of the pillars of Islam, but the greatest pillar of Islam is the Salah. The five daily prayers are greater than fasting. Some people regularly fast the month of Ramadan, but do not regularly pray. Some do not pray at all.

The One who prescribed fasting is the same One who prescribed Salah. The One who said, "O you who believe, Fasting is prescribed for you…" [Al Baqara 2:183] is the same One who said, "…Perform salah. Verily, the prayer is enjoined on the believers at fixed time." [Nisa 4:103]

Does Allah deserve to be worshiped during the month of Ramadan by fasting, then He does not deserve to be worshiped in the five daily prayers?
Similarly, we see people staying away from lying, backbiting and cheating during Ramadaan, only to go right back to their evil ways, the very evening the moon is sighted for Shawwal!

Will we do the same??
Will we go right back to the way were before Ramadaan?? Or have we changed for the better??

Will we abandon the Quran, the Word of ar-Rahman, that we recited so whole heartedly during Ramadaan and replace it with music, the words of as-Shaytaan???

Will we forget all that we learnt from this blessed month in the blink of an eye?
Will we run straight back into the haraam that we worked so hard to stay away from during Ramadaan??

We all prayed Tahajjud / Fajr Salat but sadly now we will pray only when we get time.

We scarificed our daily evening routine for 1 hour of Esha and Taraweeh Salat.... and now if we are to ask to devote 1 hour for namaz , we would think twice.

Does Allah deserve from us to be worshiped only in the month of Ramadan, but not in the rest of the year?

Its far easy to keep fasting in Ramadhan (as everyone is fasting) but now because we have got the habbit lets first start continue fasting for next 6 days of Shawaal followed by sunnat fasting of mondays and thrusday and 13,14,15 of every month.

Has this month of fasting become more of a tradition for us than anything else….going from one Khatam to another, trying to catch the blessing of Khatmul-Quran, yet when it comes to our practical every day lives, this very Quran lies dusty upon our shelves, having no impact on our lives, having no change in our attitude and with no effect on our submission to Allaah.

Did we really learn nothing from this blessed month? Or did we???

Rather, this month should be a starting point for further piety because from the signs of Allah's acceptance of our fasting is that He helps us to become steadfast in the Deen after Ramadan.

Today, even with the imminent departing of Ramadan, let us be able to say, "…Verily, my Salah, my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims." [Al Anaam 6:162-163]

It is a farewell, but also a renewal, a reaffirmation, a positive change, and with the Will of Allah, also our labors end and its just recompense.

ISLAM AND MODERN SCIENCE

RELIGION and SCIENCE have always been considered to be twin sisters by Islam and today at a time when science has taken great strides, they still continue to be associated. Furthermore, certain scientific data are used for a better understanding of the Qur'ânic text. In a century where, for many, scientific truth has dealt a deathblow to religious belief, it is precisely the discoveries of science that, in an objective examination of the Islamic Revelation, have highlighted the supernatural character of various aspects of the Revelation.

After a study which lasted ten years, The famous French physician Maurice Bucaille addressed the French Academy of Medicine in 1976 and expressed the complete agreement of the Qur'ân and established findings of modern science. He presented his study on the existence in the Qur'ân of certain statements concerning physiology and reproduction. His reason for doing that was that "Our knowledge of these disciplines is such, that it is impossible to explain how a text produced at the time of the Qur'ân could have contained ideas that have only been discovered in modern times".

Decades later a noted embryologist Keith L. Moore and expert in his field, upon being presented with the statements made in the Qur'ân regarding the stages of the formation of the embryo from the mixing of the male and female gametes up to the embryo's full development remarked "It has been a pleasure for me to help clarify statements in the Qur'ân about Human Development. It is clear to me that these statements must have come to Muhammad from God or Allaah because almost all of this knowledge was not discovered until many centuries later." Professor Moore presented his findings to scientists at several conferences. Several Canadian periodicals published many of Moore's statements and in addition he presented three television programes in which he highlighted the compatibility of modern science with what has been revealed in the Qur'ân 1400 years ago. Consequently, he was asked: "Does this mean that you believe that the Qur'ân is the word of God?" to which he replied "I find no difficulty in accepting this."

In fact Professor Moore was so amazed at the accuracy of the descriptions and the terminology used for the various stages of the development of the embryo that he modified his own textbook on the subject. He incorporated all the relevant Qur'ânic passages and authentic statements of the Prophet Muhammad into his book, The Developing Human: Clinically oriented embryology with Islamic additions, which was published by WB Saunders in 1987 and was a standard university textbook in the United States. The book now contains passages of the Qur'ân and the Ahaadeeth (verified statements of the Prophet Muhammad) for every stage of development and Professor Moore has also adopted the classification used in the above two sources.

Consider also the statement of Tejatet Tejasen (Professor at the Dept. of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mei University, Thailand) after his study on the Qur'ân passages dealing with embryology: "From my studies and what I have learnt at this conference I believe that everything that has been recorded in the Qur'ân 1400 years ago must be true. That can be proved the scientific way". Also the statement of  E. Marshal Johnson (Professor and Chairman, Dept. of Anatomy, Daniel Bough Institute, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA) when he became aware of such statements in the Qur'ân and investigated them: "The Qur'ân describes not only the development of external form but emphasizes also the internal stages - the stages inside the embryo of its creation and development, emphasizing major events recognized by contemporary science... If I was to transpose myself into that era, knowing what I do today and describing things, I could not describe the things that were described... I see no evidence to refute the concept that this individual Muhammad had to be developing this information from some place... so I see nothing in conflict with the concept that divine intervention was involved..."

Upon being presented with Ahaadeeths (verified statements of the Prophet Muhammad) concerning dominant and recessive characteristics Joe Leigh Simpson (Professor of Obstretics and Gynecology, Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, Illinois, USA) said: "... these Ahaadeeths could not have been obtained on the basis of the scientific knowledge that was available at the time of the 'writer'... It follows that not only is there no conflict between genetics and religion (Islam) but in fact religion (Islam) may guide science by adding revelation to some of the traditional scientific approaches... There exist statements in the Qur'ân shown centuries later to be valid which support knowledge in the Qur'ân having been derived from God".

Consider also the statement of T. V. N. Persaud (Professor and Head, Dept. of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Manitoba, Canada): "Muhammad was a very ordinary man, he couldn't read, didn't know how to write, in fact he was an illiterate... were talking about 1400 years ago, you have some illiterate person making profound statements that are amazingly accurate, of a scientific nature... I personally can't see how this could be mere chance, there are too many accuracies and like Dr. Moore I have no difficulty in my mind reconciling that this is a divine inspiration or revelation which lead him to these statements".

These are just a number of quotes from the "Scientific Community" regarding the nature and the origins of the Qur'ân. In fact the Qur'ân and Ahaadeeth do not just talk about embryology but hundreds of other phenomenon including the earth and sun being round, spinning around their own axis and following their own orbits, the origin and formation of the universe, the two types of seas between which is a barrier, the role of mountains in stabilizing the earths crust, the formation of milk in cows, the cause of sexual diseases, the location of pain receptors within the body, the expansion of the universe, the precise nature of the water cycle, the change in atmospheric pressure at high altitudes, the gender of the bee which is responsible for producing honey (female), the stars consuming themselves via the combustion of their gases and this being the source of their light and many more.

Explaining all these statements by chance alone is something which has been resorted to, surprisingly by those deemed to be possessors of intellect and erudition. However this is not tenable as the following demonstration will show. When you make a guess regarding the true nature of something (in an accurate and precise manner that is) there are only two possibilities. Either you are right or wrong. If you make another guess then you only have one chance in four of being correct both times. If you make a third guess then you have one chance in eight of being correct all three times and so on. The chances of correctly describing, lets say, ten phenomena are 1 in 1024. Another point to bear in mind is that the greater the number of things you describe, the chance of being wrong is greater and thus the risk you are taking of being discredited gets bigger and bigger. The Qur'ân and the Sunnah (Authentic sayings of the Prophet (Sallallaahu`alaihiwasallam) make statements on literally hundreds of phenomenon and at the same time openly calls the scientific community to verify them. If one from the scientific community was to make hundreds of new claims regarding his particular field and was then to call all his fellow specialists to prove him wrong he would know without doubt that he is standing on an undermined sand cliff which is ready to crumble with him. How then for the one who makes statements about the specialties of others?

One will be surprised to learn that such a scientific approach has been commanded in the Qur'ân with the objective of ascertaining its truthfulness.

Do they not carefully consider (investigate) the Qur'ân or are there locks upon their hearts.  [Al-Qur'ân Soorah 47:24]

Do they not carefully analyze the Qur'ân. If it had been from other than Allaah then surely they would have found many discrepancies therein  [Al-Qur'ân Soorah 4:82]

So religious (that is Islamic) beliefs are not based upon blind acceptance as many have generalized to all religions and thus falsely attributed to the Qur'ân and Islam. This has been the experience of Europe in the past 300-400 years in which scientific advancement and its findings were seen as heretical, its proponents ridiculed and often exiled and tortured. Islam has never had that experience.

It is true that peoples academic capabilities differ and thus some will be unable to ascertain the truth of it and therefore may accept it blindly. But again they have the opportunity to ask the people of knowledge, those who are in a position to make such a Judgement, like those quoted above. It is from the principles of wisdom and justice that when you don't know you don't make a Judgement yourself but rather consult one who is in a position to do so. In fact this is something Allaah has also commanded:

So ask the People of Knowledge if you do not know  [Al-Qur'ân Soorah 21:7]

and He has also said

And those who have been given Knowledge know that which has been revealed to you from your Lord is the Truth [Al-Qur'ân Soorah 34:6]

This is a clear proof of the lack of the dependence upon dogma, superstition and personal experience and an indication of the obligation to research, ascertain and to verify in a scientific manner the credibility of religious (Islamic) belief. Fortunately there are those who have done exactly that like Keith Moore and his scientific colleagues but there are others who have invented lies and slanders in order to discredit the Qur'ân and the Prophet. However when these lies and slanders are put to the test scientifically they fail miserably and their irrationality and bias becomes evident. Some of the common claims are that Muhammad was possessed or was an eloquent poet or was a magician or was one who was brainwashed or was a soothsayer. In fact all of these have been denied and rebutted in the Qur'ân itself in numerous places and numerous times. It is even more strange that these were the very same claims made by the people who belied the Prophet during his lifetime, and they are the only ones that are resorted to today. What a great advancement!

Nay! We hurl the Truth against falsehood and it does smash it's brains and thus it perishes. And woe be to you for what you describe (with your tongues)
[Al-Qur'ân Soorah 21:18]

http://www.deenislam4us.blogspot.com/

A Piece of Jannat is up for sale !

Are there any buyers ??

Subhaan Allaah! The beautiful month of Ramadaan is flying by! Its blessed days and fragrant nights are soon about to leave. And it breaks our hearts to let it go.

Yet, O Muslim, Rejoice! For there is good news for you!
A great opportunity is about to dawn upon you......

A once-in -a -lifetime chance !

Its an offer that you cannot pass by!

Allah Subhaanahu wa Taala, in his Infinite Mercy, has bestowed upon you a Great and Noble night.....
Its the Night of Power…. the Night of  Divine Decree.
A Night in which angels descend and send salutations to the believers…
A Night of innumerable blessings…..full of  PEACE and tranquility….
A Night…… in which, Ibadah is better than a thousand months.

"The Night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months."

(Surah al-Qadr:3)

A thousand months! Subhaan Allaah!
That is equal to 30,000 nights or 83 years and 4 months!
Could there be a better chance for you than this??!!
Could there be a more Merciful Lord than this??!!
Subhaan Allaah wal Hamdulillaah!

Here is your chance to repent….to come back to the Most Merciful….to change your life for the better.
This is your chance to have ALL your previous sins forgiven!

"Whoever established prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven" (Bukhaari)

This is a perfect opportunity to earn Allaahs pleasure…..being saved from Hellfire and entering Jannah.

A time when your dua will surely be accepted.

What to do on Laylatul Qadr?

1) Search for this night in the LAST TEN nights of Ramadaan (not just the 27th)

Dont just single out one night for Ibadaat. Make sure to do it ALL TEN NIGHTS or atleast on 21st , 23rd , 25th , 27th ,29th nights , because the EXACT date for Lailatul Qadr is hidden from us.

What if Lailatul Qadr is some other night and not on the 27th ?? Have you ever thought about that? Then you would have no one to blame but yourself if you miss this great Night….this perfect opportunity of goodness and blessings.

"Seek Laylat al-Qadr among the odd numbered nights of the last ten nights of Ramadaan." (Bukhaari, Muslim)

2) Strive HARD in your search, worshiping Allaah sincerely and diligently

This your chance to earn Jannah. So give it ALL you got…. everything you have.

"The Prophet (pbuh)used to used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadaan as he never did at any other time." (Muslim, Ahmad)

3) Prepare for it mentally and physically

Take off work, if you can and go for Umrah or make Itikaaf in the Masjid.

Dont overtire yourself during the day, such that you dont have any energy left to worship the Almighty.

Plan out your worship schedule for the night
Take a nap during the day, if possible and remember…do not overeat!

4) Shun worldly pleasures

Dont waste A SINGLE MOMENT of your time, such as spending this precious time in the mall, shopping for Eid or in extravagant 'Iftaar-cum-fashion show' parties.

Stay away from anything and everything that might distract you from remembering Allaah (TV, movies, music, unnecessary phone calls, gossip, etc.)

"When the last ten days of Ramadaan began, the Prophet (pbuh) would tighten his waist-wrapper (meaning he would stay away from marital relations), spend his nights in prayer, and wake his family." (Muslim)

5) Spend these nights in prayer, reciting Quraan, making dua, doing istighfaar.

Stand LONG in Qiyaam….hands folded obediently…your head low, in shame…humbly
Eyes downcast….hearts trembling…tears rolling…..
Tears of regret and sorrow…..tears of repentance and shame
Spread out your hands….like a beggar, begging for his life….
Ask Allaah to forgive you and He will forgive you.
Beg for his Mercy and He will give it to you.
Beseech Him to guide you and save you from the torments of Hell.
Be determined that you will rectify your mistakes and improve your shortcomings
Resolve to be steadfast in your Commitment and be firm in your Deen

Read Quraan, do much Tasbeeh, glorify Allaah, praise Him and thank Him.

Make lots of dua for yourself, your family, your friends and the Muslim Ummah.

6) DONT BE THE ONE WHO SLEEPS and misses out on immeasurable goodness

One who misses this blessed night has indeed missed much goodness, for no one misses it except for the one from whom it is withheld.

" In it (i e. Ramadaan) is a night better than a thousand months, whoever loses the benefit of it has lost something irreplaceable." (Ahmad, an-Nasaa'i)

There are many chances to sleep, but a chance like this is rare to come by ….only once a year. And that also if you are lucky to be alive next year.

Are you going to miss a golden chance like this one…..sleeping??
Or are you going to be like the one who maybe just prays a few rakaat and thinks he's done enough and is eager to go back to sleep??
Think about it......Isn't there plenty of time to sleep??
Havent we been sleeping all this while, anyway?? Havent we "SLEPT"  enough, O Muslim??!!

Actually…….ISNT IT ABOUT TIME WE WOKE UP???!!

Life is about opportunities. They say the wise man is the one who makes the most of his opportunities. Here is an opportunity to buy a piece of Jannah.
A piece of Jannah is up for sale! Are there any buyers??

The Duaa to make on Lailatul Qadr

Note: There is nothing that is narrated in the Quraan or Sunnah regarding Ibaadat such as prayer , duas, etc. that is to be specifically read on Lailatul Qadr EXCEPT just one hadeeth from Aisha (RA) when she asked the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam):

"I said, 'O Messenger of Allaah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say on that night?' He said, 'Say:

Allaahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibb al-afwa fa affu anni

(O Allaah, You are forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me)."

(Tirmidhi)

All the other duas and formulas for prayers that you see in some books and papers that are to be read a certain number of times or to be read in a specific order, or to be read in Salaah in a specific way, are ALL bidah. There is NO PROOF in the Qur'aan or Sunnah for their validity. Stay away from that.

Remember, Allaah will accept your Ibaadah only and only if it is:
a) done sincerely for Him alone
b) if it is done according to what the Prophet (sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam) himself did or said or approved of.
Otherwise it will be thrown back on the person who did it, without being accepted, no matter what it is.

He (sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam) said: "Every action that is not in accordance with this matter of ours [i.e. Islam] will be rejected." (Muslim)

May Allaah save us from that. Ameen.

Syed Abdul Basith
ps: remember to remember me and my parents in your duaas.
