In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

"May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You"

Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah
As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

30 Simple Mistakes during Ramadan with Correction

1:  Focusing on food; to the extent that people begin to worry about
eating more then actually fasting. This also goes along with
spending tons of money on Iftaars even though a person does not need to eat that much food.

2 : Making Suhoor way before Fajr. Some people eat Suhoor a few hours after Taraweeh or Isha Salah, this is wrong. It should be eaten
closer to the time of Fajr.

3 : People dont make Niyyah (intentions) to fast for Ramadan. This
is something in the heart and does not need to be verbal.
Also it can be done once, at the beginning of Ramadan which would be counted for every single day.

4 : If you find out late that Ramadan started, you should stop eating
and fast for that day, making that day up after Ramadan/Eid ends.

5 : Many people dont think you pray Taraweeh on the first night of
Ramadan (such as tonight). They believe you pray it after the first
day you actually fast. They forget that the Islamic calendar runs on
the moon, maghrib is the start of the new day.

6 : Many people believe if you eat or drink on accident this breaks
your fast. This is false, if you do this on accident then you
continue fasting and do not need to make up the day.

7 : Some people take the opinion that if they see someone eating or
drinking they should not remind the person that he/she is fasting.
According to Sheikh Bin Baz (ra), this is incorrect and it is an
order from Allah for us to ordain the good and forbid the evil. Thus
we tell the person, because we are forbidding the evil this way.

8 : Many sisters believe they cannot use Hennah while fasting. This
is incorrect, they are allowed to use it during Ramadan.

9 : Some people believe when you are cooking you cannot taste the
food to see if it has the right spices/flavors. This is false, and
allowed in Islam as long as the person cooking is not eating the
food. Rather they can taste it to see if it needs salt, or more
spices. Remember the taste buds are on the toungue and not in the mouth.

10 : Many people think you cannot use a Miswak or toothbrush during
Ramadan. This is false, for the Prophet(saw) used to use a miswak
during Ramadan.

11 : Some people make the Fajr Adhan early. They do this so people
will stop eating before Fajr and not invalidate their fast. This is
wrong and something we should not do.

12 : Some people make the Maghrib Adhan late. They do this so people will start eating late, just incase Maghrib has not come in yet.
This too is wrong and we should not do this.

13 : Many many people believe you cannot have intercourse with your
spouse during the whole month of Ramadan. This is false, you cannot
do this only during the times when you are fasting. Between Maghrib
and Fajr it is permissible to do.

14 : Many women believe that if their period has just ended and they
did not make ghusl, they cannot fast that day (considering their
period ended at night, and they went to bed without Ghusl, waking up
without having a chance to make it). This is incorrect, if a women
has not made Ghusl she can still fast.

15 : Many men believe that if he has had intercourse with his wife
and did not make ghusl (similar to the above) then he cannot fast
the next morning. This is also incorrect, for he can fast even if he
has not made Ghusl.

16 : Some people pray Dhur and Asr prayers together during Ramadan. (mainly in Arab countries) This is incorrect and should be avoided.

17 : Some people believe you cannot eat until the Muadthin is done
calling the Maghrib Adthan. This is incorrect, as soon as he starts
a person can break their fast.

18 : Many people dont take advantage of making dua before they break their fast. This is one of the times when Allah accepts a person dua.

19 : Many people make the mistake of spending the later part of
Ramadan preparing for Eid, neglecting Ramadan. This is incorrect and these people lose the concept of what Ramadan is about.

20 : Many parents do not let their children fast during Ramadan
(young children). This is something counter productive to a child.
By allowing him to fast he will grow up to know he must do this act.

21 : Many people think Ramadan is just about not eating and forget
about controlling their tempers and watching what they say. In
actuality we are supposed to control our tempers and mouths even
more during Ramadan.

22 : People often waste their time during Ramadan. They go to sleep
during the day and get nothing done. We should be taking advantage
of this blessed month by doing extra Ibaadat.

23 : Some people dont go on trips or travel during Ramadan. They
think they have to break their fast when traveling. This is actually
optional, if you want to break your fast while traveling you can
(with making it up later), and if you dont you can continue
fasting.

24 : Many people who are able dont make Itikaaf at the masjid. We
should take advantage of our good health and spend lots of time at
the Masjid, especially the last 10 days of Ramadan.

25 : Some people believe they cannot cut their hair or nails during
Ramadan. This is also false.

26 : Some people say you cannot swallow your spit during Ramadan.
This too is false. However you cannot swallow mucus that has entered
your mouth.

27 : Some people say you cannot use scented oils or perfumes during
Ramadan. This too is false.

28 : Some people believe bleeding breaks the fast. This is not true.

29 : Some people believe if you throw up (vomit) on accident it breaks your fast. This is not true, however if you do it intentionally it does.

30 : Some people think you cannot put water in your nose and mouth
during wuduh in Ramadan. This too is incorrect.

s ubject: Once Moosa (AS) asked Allah Subhaana'O' Ta'ala

Once Moosa (AS) asked Allah Subhaana'O'Ta'ala:

O Allah! You have granted me the honour and privilege of talking to you directly, Have you given this privilege
to any other person?

Allah Ta'ala replied, O!! Moosa during the last period I am going to send an Ummat, who will be the Ummat
of Mohammed (SAW) with dry lips, parched tongues, emaciated body with eyes sunken deep into their sockets,
with livers dry and stomachs suffering the pangs of hunger.

They will call out to me (in dua) they will be much much closer to me than you O Moosa! while you speak to me there are
70000 veils between you and me but at the time of iftaar there will not be a single veil between me and the fasting
Ummati of Mohammed (SAW) .

O!! Moosa I have taken upon myself the responsibility that at the time of iftaar I will never
refuse the dua of a fasting person!

Please make dua for me and my family – Ramadaan
Mubarak to you and your family.

Firaun's Dead Body [ Closest pictures with story ]

Thanks : Syed Abdul Basith
http://www.deenislam4us.blogspot.com/

AS RECEIVED

Here's the story of France with Pharaoh Ramesses

When Francisco Mitra became the president of France in 1981

France requested from the Egyptian government to host the mummy of Pharaoh

For the purpose of running laboratory and archeological examinations
on the mummy of the most notorious dictator ever lived on earth

Upon arrival, a very royal attendants were there including the French
president himself and all ministers who bowed in honor for the mummy

When the ceremony ended, the mummy was carried to a specially-designed
section at the Archeology Centre of France

Were it started to be tested by the greatest French archeological and
anatomical scientists in order to discover more about such a great
mummy

The scientists were headed by Professor Maurice Bucaille

Scientists were trying to restore the mummy while Professor Maurice
was mainly concerned with how did this mummy die!

The final report of the scientists was released late at night which
states that the remaining salt in the mummy is an overt evidence that
it was drawn in the sea, and the body was rescued very shortly where
it was immediately embalmed to be saved

An amazing thing was still confusing Professor Maurice is that how
could this body possibly be safer than any other mummy despite being
taken out of the sea up until this time

Professor Maurice was writing his final report on what he thought
would be a new discovery about saving Pharaoh's body immediately after
his death and embalming it

And there, someone whispered to him that Muslims claim to know
something about the drowning of this mummy

Yet the Professor firmly denied such thing saying that it's impossible
to discover this without the development of science and without using
his high-tech and complicated laboratories   and computers

To his surprise, he was told that Muslims believe in a book called
"Quran" and this Quran narrates the story of Pharaoh's drowning and
ensures the safety of his body after his death as to be a Sign to
mankind. The Professor couldn't believe his own ears and started to
wonder:

How can a book existed 1400 years ago speak about the mummy that was
only found 200 years ago, in 1898??!!

How can that be possible while the ancient Egyptian heritage was
discovered only a few decades ago and no one knew about it before??!!

The Professor sat down pondering on what he was told

about the book of Muslims while his Holy Book narrates only the
drowning of Pharaoh without saying anything about his body

"Is it possible that this mummy in front of me is the one who was
chasing Moses??!!"

"Is it possible that Muhammad knew this 1400 years ago??!!"

The Professor couldn't sleep that night till they brought him the Old
Testament where he read: "the sea drowned Pharaoh and his army, no one
else was left alive" He was surprised that the Holy Book didn't
mention about the destiny of the body and that it will be saved

When the scientists were done with the mummy, France retuned it to
Egypt, but Professor Maurice couldn't rest for a moment since he was
told that Muslims know about the safety of the body. So, he decided to
travel and meet anatomy Muslim scientists and there he spoke about his
discovery of the safety of the mummy after its death in the sea and so
on.

One of the Muslim scientists stood up and simply opened the Quran and
pointed to the Professor at one verse:

"This day shall We save you in your body, that you may be a Sign to
those who come after you! But verily, many among mankind are
neglectful of Our Signs"

(Quran 10:92)

The Professor was struck when he read that and immediately stood in
front of the crowd and said loudly: "I believe in Islam, I believe in
Quran"

Then he went back to France with a different face he traveled with.

In France, he dedicated 10 years investigating the scientific
discoveries and comparing them with the Quran and trying to come up
with one scientific contradiction with the Quran. Finally he quoted
one verse from the Quran to be his conclusion:

"No falsehood can approach it (this book) from before or behind it: it
is sent down by One Full of Wisdom, Worthy of all praise"

(Quran 41:42)

As a result of all years of his research, Professor Maurice wrote a
book that shook all Europe, especially the scientists there

"Quran, Torah, Bible and Science:

A Study of the Holy Books in the Light of Modern Science"

All copies were sold out at a very short time

I personally visited the Cairo Museum where the mummy is preserved and
there you get astonished at the scenery of thousands of people from
all over the world visiting the place everyday , unfortunately, many
of the tourists there would think: "Woow, look at that! Amazing!! So
nice to see people of all times!! Without realizing the intended
lesson that Allah has kept this body a Sign to all mankind of anyone
who denies Allah and His messengers.

In another chapter in the Quran:

"When Moses came to them with Our clear Signs, they said: This is
nothing but sorcery faked up: never did we hear the like among our
fathers of old!

Moses said: "My Lord knows best who it is that comes with guidance
from Him and whose end will be best in the Hereafter: certain it is
that the wrong-doers will not prosper..

"Pharaoh said: "O Chiefs! No god do I know for you but myself:
therefore, O Haman! Light me a (kiln to bake bricks) out of clay, and
build me a lofty palace, that I may mount up to the god of Moses: but
as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a lair!"

And he was arrogant and insolent in the land, beyond reason, - he and
his hosts: they thought they would not have to return to Us!

So We seized his and his hosts, and We flung them into the sea: now
behold what was the end of those who did wrong!

And We made them (but) leaders inviting to the Fire; and on the Day of
Judgment no help shall they find.

In this world We made a curse to follow them: and on the Day of
Judgment they will be among the loathed (and despised)."

(Quran 28: 36-42)

So now,

"Has not the time arrived for the Believers that their hearts in all
humility should engage in the remembrance of Allah and the Truth which
has been revealed to them, and that they should not become like those
to whom was given Revelation aforetime, but long ages passed over them
and their hearts grew hard? For many among them are rebellious
transgressors.

Know you (all) that Allah gives life to the earth after its death!
Already have We shown the Signs plainly to you, that you may learn
wisdom.

For those who give in charity, men and women, and loan to Allah a
Beatiful Loan, it shall be increased manifold (to their credits), and
they shall have (besides) a liberal reward.

And those who believe in Allah and His messengers- they are the
Sincere (lovers of Truth), and the Witnesses (who testify), in the
eyes of their Lord: they shall have their Reward and their Light.

But those who reject Allah and deny Our Signs,- they are the
companions of Hell-Fire "

Quran 57: 16-19

Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said,
"Every slave of Allah who observes Saum (fasting)
for one day for the sake of ALLAH, Subhanahu wa ta'ala,,
Allah will draw his face farther from Hell-fire
to the extent of a distance to be covered in seventy years.''

This May Be Your Last Ramadan...

People approach Ramadan in different ways. Its perception differs from people to people.

Some people view Ramadan as a period of expressing their undying love for the Beloved. For them, Ramadan is a valuable, precious, and rare occasion. They spend all their time doing good, convinced that the reward of each act is multiplied manifold. Patience, sympathy, and generosity beautify the demeanor. They guard their tongues and remain preoccupied in recitation of Quran and Duaa, seeking forgiveness, begging for Jannah, and seeking protection from Jahannam.

There are others who regard Ramadan as a painstaking task. It is a painful practice and a torturous month for these so called moderates. They reluctantly keep Sawm and offer Salat. Their concept of Siyam is limited to physical abstention of food, drink, and marital relationship with wife. They spend their time in chitchat, watching TV, and wasting their nights in markets and restaurants. They are not ever inclined towards Khairat, nor are they careful of their Ibadah. Their goal in Ramadan is to prepare for Eid.

The following Hadith suitably describes their spiritless actions:

"Many are the ones who keep Sawm attaining nothing by such except hunger, and many perform Salat by night attaining nothing by it except the discomfort of staying awake."

(Ibn Majah)Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) further stated that: " Allah does not require the discarding food and drink of the person who fasts but does not refrain from bad speech and action." (Sahih Bukhari)

There is yet a third group who is hardly ever moved by Ramadan. They never believe in Ibadah and remain busy in their worldly activities. They are less concerned with religion, and nor have the will or the time to change their daily routines, as per injunctions of the Shariah.

The following Hadith should serve as a harsh warning to them:

"Jibrael appeared before me and said: "Woe to him who found the blessed month of Ramadan and let it passes by without gaining forgiveness". Upon that I said: Aameen".(Sahih Bukhari)

He also said: "Whoever does not fast for even one day in Ramadan..., without a valid excuse, shall never be able to repay that day even if he fasts for the rest of his life" (Ahmad)

Ramadan is a School which after completion of one month course gives result to each believer, to evaluate his position. Ramadan is a sacred training School where a believer learns how to recharge ones spiritual batteries-to gain ones provision for the Akhirah.

If one can not attain advantage from this month then when will he do so? This is the month for renewing our Aqidah, strengthening our willpower, and seeking Taubah, a unique opportunity to fortify the bond of love with our Creator, through Ibadah Zahirah & Aamal Batinah. Salat and Zakat are inter-connected and linked to the category of Ibadah Zahirah. Instructions have been given that Faraid should be done openly, so other people should incline towards it. Khairat is under the head of Aamal Batinah which has direct link to Allah alone.

It is a noted fact that after each Ramadan, on Eid holidays many people indulge in immoral, shameless and indecent activities of enjoyment, which Shariah condemns. People revert to entertainment of music, forbidden films, and women displaying their beautification etc.

They spend lavishly on gambling, drinking, and profligacy, and consider it as a part of joy of the festival. Involvement of the Muslims in such nefarious activities is the major cause of humiliation and fall of Muslim Power worldwide. When non Muslims observe the ugly life style of Muslims they enjoy, and support them. Ramadan ends with Eid al Fitar but the deeds and actions displayed during Ramadan should serve as facilitator which should be followed throughout the year. Eid is a bliss occasion of Islam which has no concern with the festival of other faiths.

Brothers and sisters in Islam! Fear Allah Taala and beware of wasting your life away in futile activities. Make use of your time by being positive and constructive, for it is by doing so you can achieve the pleasure of Allah Taala.

This may well be your last Ramadan..., your last opportunity to benefit from the special blessings and forgiveness that accompanies this month.

Know that Ramadan... is a manifestation of Allah Taalas bountiful blessings on His slaves. Use it as a turning point in your life; a time for transformation towards a better way of life; a change from the ignominy of sins to the glory of obedience; from weakness and laziness to strength and vigour; from bad customs and detestable habits to righteousness and upright conduct.

Perhaps it may be our last Ramadan, our last opportunity to benefit from the special blessings and forgiveness that accompanies this month, for who knows we may be there or not to receive the blessings next year.

Some Common Mistakes in Ramadaan

Thanks : Syed Abdul Basith
http://www.deenislam4us.blogspot.com/

Some Common Mistakes in Ramadaan

Lets Strive Not to Repeat the Same.

1 : Taking Ramadaan as a ritual

For many of us Ramadaan has lost its spirituality and has become more of a ritual than a form of Ibaadah. We fast from morning to night like a zombie just because everyone around us is fasting too. We forget that its a time to purify our hearts and our souls from all evil....we forget to make dua, forget to beseech Allaah to forgive us and ask Him to save us from the Fire.  Sure we stay away from food and drink but that's about all.

Although the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said:

"Jibreel said to me, May Allaah rub his nose in the dust, that person to who Ramadaan comes and his sins are not forgiven, and I said, Ameen.

Then he said, May Allaah rub his nose in the dust, that person who lives to see his parents grow old, one or both of them, but he does not enter Paradise (by not serving them) and I said, Ameen.

Then he said, May Allaah rub his nose in the dust, that person in whose presence you are mentioned and he does not send blessings upon you, and I said, Ameen.'"

(Tirmidhi, Ahmad, others. Saheeh by al-Albaani)

2 : Too much stress on food and drink

For some people, the entire month of Ramadaan revolves around food. They spend the ENTIRE day planning, cooking, shopping and thinking about only food, instead of concentrating on Salaah, Quraan and other acts of worship. All they can think of is FOOD. So much so that they turn the month of fasting into the month of feasting. Come Iftaar time, their table is a sight to see, with the multitudes and varieties of food, sweets and drinks. They are missing the very purpose of fasting, and thus, increase in their greed and desires instead of learning to control them. It is also a kind of waste & extravagance.

".....and eat and drink but waste not by extravagance, certainly He (Allaah) likes not Al-Musrifoon (those who waste by extravagance)" [al-Araaf :31]

3 : Spending all day cooking

Some of the sisters (either by their own choice or forced by their husbands) are cooking ALL day and ALL night, so that by the end of the day, they are too tired to even pray Ishaa, let alone pray Taraweeh or Tahajjud or even read Quraan. This is the month of mercy and forgiveness. So turn off that stove and turn on your Imaan!

4 : Eating too much

Some people stuff themselves at Suhoor until they are ready to burst, because they think this is the way to not feel hungry during the day and some people eat at Iftaar, like there is no tomorrow, trying to make up for the food missed. However, this is completely against the Sunnah. Moderation is the key to everything.

The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: "The son of Adam does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach; for the son of Adam a few mouthfuls are sufficient to keep his back straight. If you must fill it, then one-third for food, one-third for drink and one-third for air." (Tirmidhi, Ibn Maajah.  saheeh by al-Albaani).

Too much food distracts a person from many deeds of obedience and worship, makes him lazy and also makes the heart heedless.

It was said to Imam Ahmad: Does a man find any softness and humility in his heart when he is full? He said, I do not think so.

5 : Sleeping all day

Some people spend their entire day (or a major part of it) sleeping away their fast. Is this what is really required of us during this noble month? These people also are missing the purpose of fasting and are slaves to their desires of comfort and ease. They cannot bear to be awake and face a little hunger or exert a little self-control. For a fasting person to spend most of the day asleep is nothing but, negligence on his part.

6 : Wasting time

The month of Ramadaan is a precious, precious time, so much so that Allaah calls this month "Ayyamum Madoodaat" (A fixed number of days). Before we know it, this month of mercy and forgiveness will be over. We should try and spend every moment possible in the worship of Allaah so that we can make the most of this blessing. However, there are some of us who waste away their day playing video games, or worse still, watching TV, movies or even listening to music. Subhaan Allaah! Trying to obey Allaah by DISOBEYING him!

7 : Fasting but not giving up evil

Some of us fast but do not give up lying, cursing, fighting, backbiting, etc. and some of us fast but do not give up cheating, stealing, dealing in haraam, buying lotto tickets, selling alcohol, fornication, etc. and all kinds of impermissible things without realizing that the purpose of fasting is to not stay away from food and drink; rather the aim behind it is to fear Allaah.

"O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqoon (the pious)" [al-Baqarah 2:183]

The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: "Whoever does not give up false speech and acting upon it, and ignorance, Allaah has no need of him giving up his food and drink." (Bukhaari)

8 : Smoking

Smoking is forbidden in Islam whether during Ramadaan or outside of it, as it is one of al-Khabaaith (evil things). And this includes ALL kinds of smoking material eg.cigars, cigarettes, pipes, sheesha, hookah etc.

"he allows them as lawful At Tayyibaat (all good and lawful things), and prohibits them as unlawful Al Khabaa'ith (all evil and unlawful things) [al-Araaf :157]

It is harmful, not only to the one smoking, but also to the ones around him. It is also a means of wasting ones wealth.

The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: "There should be no harming or reciprocating harm."

This is especially true during fasting and it invalidates the fast. (Fatwa -Ibn Uthaymeen)

9 : Skipping Suhoor

The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: "Eat suhoor for in suhoor there is blessing."(Bukhaari, Muslim).

And he (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: "The thing that differentiates between our fasting and the fasting of the People of the Book is eating suhoor." (Muslim)

10 : Stopping Suhoor at Imsaak

Some people stop eating Suhoor 10-15 minutes earlier than the time of Fajr to observe Imsaak.

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen said: This is a kind of bidah (innovation) which has no basis in the Sunnah. Rather the Sunnah is to do the opposite. Allaah allows us to eat until dawn: "and eat and drink until the white thread (light) of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread (darkness of night)" [al-Baqarah 2:187]

And the Prophet (pbuh) said: "….eat and drink until you hear the adhaan of Ibn Umm Maktoom, for he does not give the adhaan until dawn comes."

This imsaak which some of the people do is an addition to what Allaah has prescribed, so it is false. It is a kind of extremism in religion, and the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said:

"Those who go to extremes are doomed, those who go to extremes are doomed, those who go to extremes are doomed." (Muslim)

11 : Not fasting if they missed Suhoor

Some people are too scared to fast if they miss Suhoor. However, this is a kind of cowardice and love of ease. What is the big deal if you missed a few morsels of food? Its not like you will die. Remember, obedience to Allaah overcomes everything.

12 : Saying the intention to fast out loud or saying a specific dua to start fasting

The intention is an action of the heart. We should resolve in our heart that we are going to fast tomorrow. That is all we need. It is not prescribed by the Shariah for us to say out loud, "I intend to fast", "I will fast tomorrow" or other phrases that have been innovated by some people. Also, there is no specific dua to be recited at the time of starting the fast in the correct Sunnah. Whatever dua you may see on some papers or Ramadaan calendars, etc. is a Bidah.

13 : Delaying breaking fast

Some people wait until the adhaan finishes or even several minutes after that, just to be on the safe side. However, the Sunnah is to hasten to break the fast, which means breaking fast whenever the adhaan starts, right after the sun has set. Aaishah (RA) said: This is what the Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) used to do. (Muslim)

The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: "The people will continue to do well so long as they hasten to break the fast." (Bukhaari, Muslim)

Determine to the best of your ability, the accuracy of your clock, calendar, etc. and then have tawakkul on Allaah and break your fast exactly on time.

14 : Eating continuously until the time for Maghrib is up

Some people put so much food in their plates when breaking their fast and continue eating, enjoying dessert, drinking tea, etc., until they miss Maghrib. That is obviously not right. The Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh) was that once he broke his fast with some dates, them he would hasten to the prayer. Once you are done with the prayer, you can always go back and eat some more if you wish.

15 : Missing the golden chance of having your Dua accepted

The prayer of the fasting person is guaranteed to be accepted at the time of breaking fast.

The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: "Three prayers are not rejected: the prayer of a father, the prayer of a fasting person, and the prayer of a traveler." (al-Bayhaqi, saheeh by al-Albaani).

Instead of sitting down and making Dua at this precious time, some people forego this beautiful chance, and are too busy frying samosas, talking, setting the food, filling their plates and glasses, etc. Think about it....Is food more important than the chance to have your sins forgiven or the fulfillment of your Duas.

16 : Fasting but not praying

The fasting of one who does not pray WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. This is because not praying constitutes kufr as the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: "Between a man and shirk and kufr there stands his giving up prayer." (Muslim)

In fact, NONE of his good deeds will be accepted; rather, they are all annulled.

"Whoever does not pray Asr, his good deeds will be annulled." (Bukhaari)

17 : Fasting and not wearing Hijaab

Not wearing the Hijaab is a major sin as it is obligatory for Muslim women. (See Surah Nur, Surah Ahzaab). So fasting and not wearing hijaab certainly takes away enormously from the rewards of fasting, even if does not invalidate it.

18 : Not fasting because of exams or work

Exams or work is NOT one of the excuses allowed by the Shariah to not fast. You can do your studying and revision at night if it is too hard to do that during the day. Also remember that pleasing and obeying Allaah is much more important than good grades. Besides, if you will fulfil your obligation to fast, even if you have to study, Allaah will make it easy for you and help you in everything you do.

"Whosoever fears Allah, He will appoint for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect, Allah is Sufficient for whosoever puts his trust in Him." (Surah at-Talaaq 2-3)

19 : Mixing fasting and dieting

DO NOT make the mistake of fasting with the intention to diet. That is one of the biggest mistakes some of us make (esp. sisters). Fasting is an act of worship and can only be for the sake of Allah alone.

Otherwise, mixing it with the intention of dieting may become a form of (minor) Shirk.

20 : Fighting over the number of Rakaah of Taraweeh

There is no specific number of rakahs for Taraweeh prayer, rather it is permissible to do a little or a lot. Both 8 and 20 are okay. Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen said: "No one should be denounced for praying eleven or twenty-three (rakaah), because the matter is broader in scope than that, praise be to Allaah."

21 : Praying ONLY on the night of the 27th

Some people pray ONLY on the 27th to seek Lailat ul-Qadr, neglecting all other odd nights, although the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: "Seek Lailat ul-Qadr among the odd numbered nights of the last ten nights of Ramadaan." (Bukhaari, Muslim).

22 : Wasting the last part of Ramadaan preparing for Eid

Some people waste the entire last 10 days of Ramadaan preparing for Eid, shopping and frequenting malls, etc. neglecting Ibadah and Lailatul Qadr. although, the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) used to strive the hardest during the last ten days of Ramadaan in worship (Ahmad, Muslim) and not in shopping. Buy whatever you need for Eid before Ramadaan so that you can utilize the time in Ramadaan to the max.

Aaishah (RA) said: "When the (last) ten nights began, the Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam)) would tighten his waist-wrapper (i.e., strive hard in worship or refrain from intimacy with his wives), stay awake at night and wake his family." (Bukhaari and Muslim).

23 : Iftaar parties

Although inviting each other for breaking fast is something good and encouraged, some people go to extremes with lavish Iftaar parties with all sorts of disobedience to Allaah, from flirting, mixing of the sexes and hijaab-less women, to show-off and extravagance, to heedlessness to Salaah, and Taraweeh to even music and dancing.
